When People Project Their Money Sh*t on You
Apr 06, 2025
You know what no one tells you about stepping into your next level of wealth? That it’ll trigger the hell out of people who haven’t done the work.
Not long ago, someone in my world had a very visceral reaction to something I shared online about money. Nothing wild, nothing offensive, just me speaking my truth about what I’ve learned, what I’ve healed, and what I now *hold* around money, power, visibility. And instead of engaging with curiosity or even just scrolling on by... they projected.
They came in hot with their assumptions. Their judgments. Their stuff.
And look, I’m not new to this. I’ve been around long enough to know that other people’s reactions are more about them than me. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t land. Especially when it’s from someone you care about, someone you thought saw you.
This is where nervous system work is everything.
Because your brain might know, “This isn’t about me.” But your body might still flinch. You might freeze. Or fawn. You might spiral into thoughts like:
- Maybe I *am* too much.
- Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.
- Maybe I should change my goals a little
And here’s where I’m calling bullshit.
When someone is triggered by your truth, it’s a sign they’re still living in a belief system that says it’s *not safe* to expand. And when you come along, fully owning your voice, claiming your value, not just making more money but being unapologetic about *holding* it... you become a mirror they didn’t ask to look into.
But that’s not your problem.
Thing is, a lot of women... especially those who’ve spent a lifetime people-pleasing, or over-explaining... get stuck right here. We think it’s our job to soften the blow of our bigness. To make our success more palatable.
We forget that other people’s discomfort is not our responsibility.
I used to spiral when this happened. I’d replay the conversation in my head for days. I’d scan my post or message, dissecting every word, wondering if I should’ve said it differently.
Now? I ask one simple question: Did I say something that was untrue for me?
If the answer is no.. if I was grounded, aligned, and truthful... then I don’t owe anyone an apology for how that truth landed in their nervous system.
Because I can hold my truth now.
I can hold wealth and I can hold the weight of being seen - fully seen - even when people project, misunderstand, or walk away.
That’s nervous system capacity. That’s the regulation we don’t talk about when we talk about money. Everyone’s out here chasing sales strategies and manifestation hacks, but no one’s asking:
- Does your body feel safe being this visible?
- Can your nervous system hold being misunderstood without making it mean something about you?
- Are you grounded enough in your truth to keep showing up even when it rattles someone else’s cage?
This is the work. This is the nuance.
If you’re expanding your business, growing your income, and becoming more visible — people will get triggered. Sometimes they’ll talk behind your back. Sometimes they’ll leave passive-aggressive comments. Sometimes they’ll ghost you entirely.
But that doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It means your nervous system is expanding to hold more — more truth, more power, more discomfort, and yes… more money.
Your job isn’t to make your growth easier for other people to digest. Your job is to stay regulated enough to keep going anyway.
So the next time someone projects their money sh*t onto you, take a breath. Notice what flares in your body. Give it a name. And then remind yourself: This isn’t mine to hold.
Because the truth is, your expansion isn’t just uncomfortable for others... it might be uncomfortable for you, too. That’s okay.
Growth is uncomfortable.
But staying small just to keep others comfortable?
That’s a cost I’m no longer willing to pay.
And if you’re reading this, if you’ve been feeling that subtle pull to shrink, to soften, to edit yourself down for fear of being “too much”... I want you to know this.
You’re not too much.
You’re just holding more.
And your nervous system is learning to catch up to the version of you who already knows that wealth, visibility, and expansion don’t require you to make yourself smaller.
💸 You know you’re meant for more, but every time you try to level up financially, something stops you. It’s not that you’re bad with money, it’s that your nervous system is stuck in survival mode.
I get it! That's why I help women just like you rewire their nervous system’s response to wealth, so they can stop living in financial fear, break the feast-or-famine cycle, and finally feel safe earning, keeping, and growing their money.
Because financial confidence isn’t just about knowing what to do... it’s about being able to hold wealth without stress, guilt, or panic. And when your body stops seeing money as a threat? Everything changes.
