Why "Trust Your Gut" Is Actually Keeping You Broke
Jun 30, 2025
You've been sold a lie. Mentors, professional development gurus, friends... have all told you that listening to your intuition is wisdom. That if something doesn't feel right, you shouldn't do it. That your body knows best when it tells you to wait, to get another qualification, to maybe try again next month.
Why "Following Your Intuition" Keeps You Financially Stuck
But let's look at what's really happening:
You know you need to raise your prices, but every time you go to do it, "something just gets in the way." Your partner's birthday. Too much going on. You don't have time to deal with it.
You don't launch that program because you "just don't have a good feeling about it."
You avoid putting yourself out there because you're "not ready" and need another certification first.
What You Think Is Intuition Is Actually Fear
Thing is... That feeling in your stomach, chest, or throat when you think about making more money... That racing heart and shoulder tension... All of that is fear, not intuition.
Your nervous system's job is to keep you alive, not make you wealthy. To your survival brain, staying exactly where you are feels infinitely safer than making more money, raising your visibility, or changing anything at all.
Why Fear Sounds So Logical (And Keeps You Broke)
And, fear sounds so fucking logical. You'll tell yourself: "If I raise my prices, I might lose clients. If I launch this program, what if no one buys? If I put myself out there, someone might say something nasty."
It feels like wisdom. It feels like you're being careful and responsible. But what you're actually being is just stuck.
How to Tell the Difference Between Fear and True Financial Intuition
The reality is you can't think your way out of a nervous system response. You can't just decide to trust yourself more.
Your body has to feel safe before your actual intuition comes back online. Because when it does? Your real intuition will guide you toward things that feel scary, and that's exactly what we want. Growth lives outside your comfort zone.
There is a difference between fear and wisdom. Fear is urgent, anxious, and goes against your goals with phrases like "what if" and "it's too risky." Wisdom is calmer and says, "Yeah, this feels scary, and I've considered the risks. It still feels aligned"
The Bottom Line
At some point, as you work towards your financial goals, your intuition is going to start guiding you towards things that do feel scary. And we want that. In order to reach your goals, you need to move outside your comfort zone.
