The Hidden Cost of Being 'Good' With Money

You’re Doing Everything “Right” With Money
Yet you still find yourself anxiously wondering wondering when everything you've worked so hard for will come crashing down?
This is something I frequently see with the women I work with. They diligently check their numbers every single week, they manage their budgets and live a "comfortable" lifestyle (as long as they watch every penny and work 60 hours per week), and only buy basic department store items instead of purchasing the quality designer clothes they actually want (and suit them 100x better!)
Let’s Talk About That Guilt You Feel When You Want Something Nice
We've all heard those well-meaning money rules from our mothers, aunts, and every financial guru out there. "Save for a rainy day!" they say. "It's okay to treat yourself sometimes!" But let's be honest – when was the last time you actually believed that? When was the last time you bought something nice for yourself without that little voice in your head listing all the "more responsible" ways you could spend that money?
Just last week, I watched my client talk herself out of buying a gorgeous blazer that made her look like the phenomenal speaker that she is. Instead, she went home with another fast-fashion piece that she'll probably replace in three months. "I just couldn't justify the expense," she sighed. This from a woman who has enough money to buy the blazer in each colour and still have money left over.
Money Anxiety Isn’t About the Numbers
When was the last time your perfectly organised budget actually made you feel secure? Sure, the numbers add up, but that doesn't stop us from waking up at 3am worrying about it all falling apart. We're working 60-hour weeks, tracking every penny, living these supposedly "comfortable" lives, yet still feeling like we're one misstep away from financial disaster.
That doesn't sound like a healthy relationship with money to me.
What If the Fear Was Never Yours to Hold?
The breakthrough comes when we start recognising our money patterns. When we understand that our anxiety about money isn't actually about the money at all. It's about worth. About safety. About all those subtle messages we've absorbed about what we deserve and what success should look like. And recognising those money stories we've adopted... they're not actually ours!
You can have the perfect budget, the healthy savings account, and all the right investments, but if you're still lying awake at night checking your bank balance... something deeper is going on.
